I've been reading 1 Samuel and this story in chapter 14 jumped off the pages. My prayer is that you would experience the fullness of God! I hope this story encourages you as much as it has me.

In 1 Samuel 14, Jonathan and his armor-bearer sneak out alone to fight the Philistine army while the rest of the Israelite army was hiding. Jonathan and his armor-bearer kill so many men in just a few minutes, the Philistines panic and start fighting against themselves. The Lord saved Israel that day because two men had the boldness and audacity to believe God would fight for them.

After this great victory, the people were tired and hungry. But Saul made a rash vow saying “Cursed be the man who eats food until it is evening and I am avenged on my enemies.” Then as they walked into the forest there was honey on the ground and it was dripping. Wow, can you imagine?! But no one tasted the honey because they feared the oath. But Jonathan did not hear his father's warning, so he ate the honey and his eyes became bright. Then someone told him, Your father strictly charged the people not to eat anything and he said “My father has troubled the land. See how my eyes have become bright because I tasted a little of this honey. How much better if the people had eaten freely today of the spoil of their enemies that they found. For now, the defeat among the Philistines has not been great.”

Thankfully today, we have nothing to fear. All we have to do is reach out and taste the honey and see the goodness of God! His fullness is all around us and available, we just have to be willing to tase and see!
